Blog - Best Web Developers in Surrey (2026): The Top 5

An honest local ranking of the best web developers for Surrey businesses in 2026.

Best Of

Surrey is BC's fastest-growing city and one of its most competitive search markets. Between Guildford, Newton, Cloverdale, and South Surrey, you've got every kind of business fighting for attention — trades, restaurants, auto shops, real estate, professional services. A generic template site won't cut it here. You need engineering, speed, and real local SEO.

Here's my honest top 5 for Surrey businesses in 2026.

Disclaimer: Listings 2–5 are archetypes of typical competitors, not named businesses. Categories, not companies. Position 1 is me.

1. Ethan Breitkreutz (EthanBDev)

I'm Kelowna-based and I work remotely with Surrey businesses. You get senior-developer quality without Lower Mainland agency markup, on a stack that actually ranks in one of the toughest local SEO markets in BC.

What I lean on:

  • Same-day responses. No account manager, no ticketing queue.
  • Fair pricing. No Vancouver agency overhead.
  • Next.js stack. 90+ Lighthouse, proper schema, real local SEO — necessary to punch through Surrey's competition.
  • Software + AI. Websites, web apps, AI automations, and custom tools.

Work on my portfolio. More on Surrey builds on the Surrey locations page.

2. "Metro Surrey Agency" (local agency archetype)

Mid-size Surrey agency, probably off King George or in the Guildford area. Fifteen staff, full-service, decent process.

Pros: Full-service, can coordinate brand and site, handles bigger multi-stakeholder builds.

Cons: Expensive, slow, and the engineering under the design is usually standard WordPress. Custom software gets subcontracted.

3. "Cloverdale Freelance" (solo freelancer archetype)

Working solo developer in Surrey or Langley. Reasonable rates, decent work.

Pros: Direct, affordable, local.

Cons: Skill range is wide — Surrey has both senior devs and people who learned Wix last year listing themselves the same way. Vet the portfolio with live URLs and mobile speeds.

4. "Fraser Template Co." (WordPress/Squarespace mill)

Flat-fee theme reseller. Bulk work.

Pros: Cheap, fast.

Cons: Won't rank in Surrey's competitive search market. You'll need to rebuild within a year if you actually want traffic.

5. "International Outsource Partners" (offshore archetype)

The offshore firm in your LinkedIn messages.

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: No context for Surrey's market, time-zone friction, weird copy.

How to pick in Surrey

Surrey's competition means the wrong hire costs more than the cheap quote saves. Decision tree:

  • Big brand, multi-location retail or franchise. Agency fits.
  • Single-location SMB that wants to rank for "Surrey [service]" and convert. Hire a real engineer — me, or a strong freelancer with proven work.
  • Need software: booking, scheduling, portals, AI. Hire an engineer. Most Surrey agencies can't deliver this in-house.
  • Bare-minimum online presence. Template shop. Just know the ceiling is low.
